Tunisia: recruitment abroad up 16% (January-September 2012)

The number of Tunisians recruited abroad between January and September 2012, within the framework of technical cooperation reached 2,005 people, up 16% compared to the same period in 2011 (figures from the Tunisian Agency Technical Cooperation).

The education sector accounts for 55% of recruitment, followed by health (22%) and trade and marketing.

Arab countries retain the first place in attracting Tunisian guest workers with a rate of 84%, against 6.5% for Europe.

In the breakdown by country, the Sultanate of Oman is leading recruitment with 584, followed by Saudi Arabia (415), Qatar (252) and the United Arab Emirates (224).

The rest comes from recruitment in Libya, Kuwait, France and Canada, respectively.

Until 30 September 2012, the overall number of Tunisian guest workers reached 12,468 people, 76% of whom in Arab countries.
