Tunisia: reported jobs in services down

Investment reported in the services sector reached the amount of 1733.3 MD in the first eleven months of 2017, against 1374.3 MD for the first eleven months of 2016, posting an increase of 26.1%.

The number of projects reported grew from 9,086 to 8,023 in the first eleven months of 2017, down 11.7%.

These projects will create 34,627 jobs, compared to 36,303 jobs in the first eleven months of 2016, i.e. a decrease of 4.6%.

This was stated in the business opportunity letter from the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII).

Reported investments in service activities recorded a 32% increase in local market-oriented services with 1,670.8 MD in the first eleven months of 2017, compared with 1,265.6 MD in the first eleven month 2016.

The number of this type of projects decreased by 14.2%, from 7,715 during the first eleven months of 2016 to 6618 during the first eleven months of 2017.

The number of jobs to be created fell by 3%, from 29,119 to 28,232 during the same period.

As for fully exporting services, investments saw a drop of 42.5% with 62.5 MD against 108.7 MD during the first eleven months of 2016.
