Tunisia: reported projects down 30% compared to April

The month of April 2012 saw the declaration of 323 projects representing a total investment of 167.5 million Tunisian dinars (MTD and the creation of 4,959 jobs, said the “Letter of Industry” of the month of April.

Compared to March during which 456 projects, 521.9 MTD of investments and 6,618 jobs were reported, the month of April 2012 witnessed a 29.2% decline in projects to be realized, a fall of 67.9% in reported investments and a 25.1% decrease in jobs to be created.

However, during the first four months of 2012, reported investment in the industrial sector reached 1,231.2 MTD, against 1,136.5 MTD, in the first four months of 2011, up 8.3 %.

During this period, the number of reported projects reached 1,498 against 1,261, in the first four months of 2011, up 18.8%.

These projects will create 26,457 jobs positions, against 28,212 jobs during the same period of 2011, down 6.2%.
