Experts from the Tunisian Electricity Company (STEG) have started their mission to assist the management team of Electricité de Guinée, the national electricity company.

It will be for the Tunisian team to support and train the agents for more efficiency, according to Energy Mix Report.

The technical assistance mission of the General Directorate of Electricity of Guinea, the national electricity company, by the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company has officially started.

It is part of the reforms undertaken for several years by the Guinean government to ensure the viability of the electricity sector and to offer better services to the populations.

STEG was selected after a process during which the Ministry of Energy was supported by the World Bank.

Its role will be to support EDG’s management team in certain essential functions and to enable it to continue implementing its internal recovery policy in order to achieve the level of efficiency expected by the government.

“For several months, these Tunisian experts will place particular emphasis on several areas to enable EDG to achieve an increase in the rate of access to electricity, the provision of a quality service, but also, to improve the technical, financial and managerial situation to considerably reduce the subsidy from the Guinean state,” EDG said in a statement.
