Unpaid bills of the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) reached 508.1 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) in April 2014, against 553.4 MTD in February following, stepped up recovery operations.
In a statement to TAP, recovery project manager in STEG Mongi Bousbia said this campaign, the second after the one launched in 2013 in Tunis, seeks the collection of unpaid receivables of STEG, including unpaid bills.
A third campaign will be launched during the month of May in Sfax (North Sfax, South Sfax, Sfax City, and Jebiniana Mahrès).
He noted that the amounts collected in the central region, during the campaign, stood at 11.8 MTD, i.e. 28% of all recoveries on the national level, adding that after the launch this campaign, a massive influx of customers has been recorded in other regions.
The official noted that before the campaign, the value of unpaid bills in the central region stood at 91.4 MTD and fell later to 79.6 MTD.
