Tunisia: Syphax seals agreement with Airbus to purchase ten A320s

Tunisian company Syphax Airlines, on Tuesday, signed an agreement with European manufacturer Airbus for the acquisition of ten A320 aircraft between 2015 and 2020, under a contract of some $ 600 million, said the group’s CEO, Mohamed Frikha.

“We have signed two partnership agreements with Safran and Airbus Groups. The agreement with Airbus involves the acquisition of 10 aircraft (A320), including six NEO,” he said.

“This is a long-term contract of approximately $ 600 million,” covering the period 2015-2020, added Frikha.

Syphax Airlines was launched shortly after the Tunisian Revolution. (December 17, 2010/January 14, 2011).It serves destinations in France (Paris and Marseille), Libya (Tripoli) and Turkey (Istanbul).

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the first meeting of the Tunisian-EU Economic Task Force held on Tuesday in Tunis, in the presence of Vice-President of the European Commission, Antonio Tajani.

The EU is the main trading partner of Tunisia, whose economy has been hit by the Revolution of 2011 and suffers from the slow growth in Europe because of the crisis in the euro area.
