Tunisia: Table egg production up 4.8% in January 2024

The production of eggs for consumption increased by 4.8% in January 2024 compared to the same period last year, according to statistics published on Monday by the National Agricultural Observatory (ONAGRI).

The producer price of eggs for consumption in January 2024 fluctuated almost constantly between 318.1 millimes/unit at the beginning of the month and 318.9 millimes/unit on January 18, 2024, with a slight variation of 0.3%.

However, the monthly average decreased by 7.4% compared to the same month of 2023, from 344.2 millimes/unit to 318.7 millimes/unit. Compared with December 2023 (317.7 millimes/unit), the average price increased by 0.3%.

By region, the average producer price in the Centre (320.0 millimes/unit) was 0.5% higher than in the South and 0.3% higher than in the North.

The cost of producing eggs for consumption rose by 13.9% compared with the previous year, to 250.2 millimes/unit (284.9 millimes /unit).

Compared with December 2002, production costs rose by 10.2%.
