Tunisia: Air passenger traffic up 12.3% in January 2024 (OACA)

Air passenger traffic through Tunisian airports increased by 12.3% to 598,482 passengers in January 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to data published by the Office of Civil Aviation and Airports (OACA).

This upward trend affected air traffic at most Tunisian airports, including Tunis-Carthage International Airport, with an increase of 11.4% to 73,667 passengers, Djerba-Zarzis International Airport (+11.9%), Sfax-Thyna International Airport (+38.6%), Tozeur-Nefta International Airport (+178.3%) and Tabarka-Ain Drahem International Airport (+71.7%).

In terms of aircraft movements, the Tunisian airports managed by the OACA recorded an increase of 12.5% in the total number of aircraft movements, reaching 5,373 flights at the end of January 2024.

This increase was mainly recorded at Tunis-Carthage (+11.9%), Djerba-Zarzis (+12%), Sfax-Thyna (+25.3%) and Tozeur-Nefta (+85.7%).

The office also reported an increase of 32.5% in overflights (aircraft crossing Tunisian airspace) to 4 730 movements in January 2024.
