Tunisia: trade balance of fishery products shows surplus of 195.3 MD at end of July

The surplus of the trade balance of fishery products has risen by 13.5% to 195.3 million dinars (MD) between the end of July 2021 and 2022, according to data from the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI).

The value of exports of fisheries went up by 30.3% at the end of July 2022, to 430 million dinars. ONAGRI reports a slight increase (10.7%) in export prices compared to 2021, (TND 20 / kg). Fish, shellfish, canned and semi-canned products are the most exported.

Tunisia’s exports of fishery products are spread over 36 destinations. Italy is the first importer (35.2%), followed by Malta (14.4%), Libya (13.2%) and Spain (12.8%).

The value of imports of fishery products grew 48.5%, at end of July 2022, reaching 234.7 MD. Import prices have increased by 21.8% compared to 2021, from TND 5.4 / kg to TND 6.5 Kg.

Frozen fish (frozen tuna) intended for industrialization are the main imported product.
