Tunisia: trade deficit down for 7th consecutive month

Tunisia’s trade deficit has dropped for the seventh consecutive month to 8.4%, reaching the value of 7,043 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) at the end of July 2015 against 7,687.1 MTD at the same period in 2014, according to data recently published by the Ministry of Commerce.

This drop is explained by the 2% increase in exports and the decline in imports by 1.4% to 23,633 MD from 23,957.5 MTD last year.

The coverage rate of imports by exports improved by 2.3% compared to the same period in 2014 to reach 70.2% by the end of July 2015, against 67.9% in July 2014.
