Tunisia: Tunindex down 6.94% in H1 2020

TUNINDEX, the reference index of the Tunis Stock Exchange, saw a fall of 6.94% during the first half of 2020, against a drop of 1.69% during the same period of 2019, according to the report on the evolution of the indicators of activities of the 2nd quarter 2020, published by the Tunis Stock Exchange.

The strongest increases in revenues were achieved by Placement de Tunisie SICAF (+140.2%), WIFAK INTERNATIONAL BANK (+40.3%), CELLCOM (+39.3%) and DELICE HOLDING (+15.5%).

The largest revenue declines were recorded by SIMPAR (-86.6%), GIF-FILTER (-82.3%) and AMS (-74.6%).

The TUNINDEX20 index showed the same trend during the same period with a drop of 7.89%, compared to a decline of 3.21% during the same period in 2019.

Five of the thirteen sectorial indices published by the Stock Exchange recorded positive performances at the close of the first half of the year 2020.

The best performances were recorded by the Building and Construction Materials index (+12.49%) and the Food and Beverages index (+10.56%).

On the other hand, 8 sector indices recorded negative performances. The Basic Materials index experienced the largest decline (-26.56%), followed by the Automobile and Equipment Manufacturers index (-21.63%).
