National airline Tunisair has just published its activity indicators as at December 31, 2019.
The company’s activity saw a drop in the number of passengers, all activities combined, of -7.75% to 3,450,434 passengers. This decline was mainly due to the 7.7% decrease in regular and additional business.
In the fourth quarter alone, the number of passengers went down by 6% after a 20% drop in the third quarter to 744,364 passengers, compared to 791,078 passengers in the same quarter of 2018.
Nevertheless, the airline’s revenues in 2019 increased by nearly 4% compared to last year to 1.6 billion dinars.
In terms of expenses, fuel expenses amounted to 393 million dinars at the end of December (-9.1%), while aircraft rent fell by 34% to 33.9 million dinars and airport charges rose to 435.7 million dinars, against 418.2 million in 2018.
Personnel expenses amounted to 238.6 million dinars, up nearly 10 million dinars compared to the end of December 2018, for a workforce of 3,708 employees.
