Tunisia: Tunisair improves results (January)

National airline Tunisair recorded an improvement of results in terms of traffic during the month of January 2013.

Indeed, the number of passengers (all activities) during the month of January 2013 increased by 3.7% (or 227,214 passengers) compared with January 2012 (219,129 passengers), up 40.5% compared to January 2011 (161,728 passengers) and up 15.8% compared to January 2010 (196,196 passengers).

This overall increase in the number of passenger was recorded despite a 55% decline in charter activity during the same month, compared to January 2012 and an 84% fall, compared to 2010.

Regarding the first 15 days of February, passenger traffic grew by 10.8% compared to 2012 and 19.3% compared to 2010, despite a slowdown in growth during the second week of February, mainly due to the general strike observed on February 8 and the political situation of the country during that week.

The main markets that showed improvement are Spain, the Netherlands, Algeria and Libya. These last two destinations have also posted an increase in frequency. France, historic market of the company, recorded a decline of 6.5%.
