Tunisia: Tunisair to lay off 1,700 agents employees, freeze wages

During a financial briefing held Friday, December 28, 2012 at the seat of the Tunis Stock Exchange, CEO of Tunisair Rabah Jrad detailed the company’s restructuring plan of the company, which he deemed costly and “will be even more if not put into execution as soon as possible,” he said.

In this plan, presented earlier last week to the Minister of Transport to be included in the agenda of the next Cabinet meeting, the company will adopt a social plan under which 1,700 employees will be laid off, 329 other retiring agents will not be replaced by 2014 and recruitment and wages will be frozen for the years 2013 and 2014.
