Tunisia:  UIB announces NBI of 490 million dinars in 2022

The “L’Union Internationale de Banques” said it has achieved a net banking income up 10.7% in 2022 to 490.4 million dinars, from 442.8 million in 2021.

The banking operating income, presented net of reserved agios, posted an increase of 11.1% to reach 762.4 million dinars, against 686.4 million a year earlier.

The interest margin reached 276 million dinars, an increase of 9.6%, while the margin on commissions grew 6.2% to 149.5 million dinars.

The income from the commercial and investment securities portfolio went up 29% to 64.9 million dinars, against 50.3 million in 2021.

In addition, the outstanding deposits amounted to 5,877 million dinars at the end of 2022, against 5,412 million at the end of 2021. This 8.6% increase in deposits is mainly due to the rise in savings deposits (+178.3 million dinars), term deposits, certificates of deposit and other financial products (+195.3 million), other deposits and customer assets (+56.2 million) and sight deposits (+35.7 million).

As for the net outstanding loans to customers, it showed a growth of 7.3% corresponding to an additional 434.2 million dinars, to an outstanding amount of 6,384 million dinars against 5,950 million at the end of 2021.

On the other hand, personnel costs have decreased by 1.6% in 2022 to 173.3 million dinars, against 176.2 million in 2021. Operating expenses increased by 1% to 240.2 million dinars, from 238.5 million in 2021.

In 2022, the bank’s Gross Operating Income grew by 22.4% to 250.5 million dinars, while the operating ratio stood at 49% against 53.9% in 2021.
