The unemployment rate in Tunisia was brought down to 17.6% at the end of the second quarter of 2012, according to the results of the national survey on population and employment conducted by the National Institute of Statistics.
This means that the number of unemployed stood at 691,600 out of a total labor force of 3,923,200.
In the first quarter of the year, the rate was 18.1, i.e. down 0.5 points compared to the fourth quarter of 2011, during which unemployment had fallen by 1.3 points.
By gender, the unemployment rate is 14.6 for males and 25.6 for females, according to the INS.
