U.S. ambassador in Tunis, Jacob Walles announced, Thursday, the agreement in principle of the U.S. administration to continue the guarantee of part of Tunisian debt in respect of the year 2013.
The ambassador made this announced after a meeting with Minister of Finance Elyes Fakhfakh.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, the two sides focused on financial cooperation between Tunisia and the United States and ways to develop it, especially regarding credit guarantees in the financial market and international support for Tunisia to achieve the key development goals.
For his part, the Minister stressed that “Tunisia seeks to be a role model in the areas of transparency and good governance through the legislative and organizational systems set up to create a climate of trust between the administration and citizens. ”
