Remittances from Tunisians Residing Abroad continued their upward trajectory in 2025, confirming their central role in supporting the national economy.
According to data from the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), these remittances reached 8.761 million dinars for the entire year of 2025, compared to 8.262 million dinars in 2024, representing an increase of approximately 6% year-on-year.
This positive trend reflects the resilience of the Tunisian diaspora in the face of an international economic environment still marked by inflationary pressures, restrictive monetary policies, and slowing growth in several host countries.
Despite this context, Tunisians abroad have maintained, and even strengthened, their financial support for their families and the national economy.
Remittances from Tunisians residing abroad constitute one of the main sources of foreign currency for Tunisia, alongside tourism revenues and exports.
In 2025, they significantly contributed to the improvement of the country’s foreign currency reserves, helping to cover external financing needs and contributing to the relative stability of the balance of payments.
This increase can be explained by several factors, including the growing number of Tunisians settled abroad, improved banking of financial flows and the development of formal transfer channels.
Beyond their macroeconomic impact, remittances from Tunisians abroad represent a major social support for many households, contributing to the financing of daily expenses, education, healthcare and, in some cases, investment projects.
The authorities, for their part, are called upon to strengthen mechanisms to attract and channel these remittances towards more productive uses, in order to maximize their impact on the country’s economic growth and development.
