The financing of micro-projects of young entrepreneurs in the governorate of Tozeur, the oasis ecosystem issues and distribution of productions, are the main concerns of the region discussed Wednesday at a meeting between representatives of the civil society and of the World Bank (WB) office in Tunis.

Sadok Ayari, officer in charge of communication and external relations at the World Bank in Tunis, said in a statement to TAP the international organization is working on the realization of a project for the sustainable management of oasis ecosystems in partnership with various components of the civil society.

He said that this meeting is part of a partnership between the World Bank and the Tunisian government in anticipation of the 2016/2020 development plan.

“The World Bank has made a qualitative leap through direct communication with the civil society in regions, especially in southern governorates and also with the government,” he said.

“These meetings are intended to learn about the concerns of the residents of these regions and take into consideration the recommendations of civil society to set priorities and directions in future development programs.
