Tunisia: Zarzis-Marina di Carrara shipping line operational February 1

A regular shipping line between the port of Zarzis and the Italian port of Marina di Carrara will be launched on Friday, February 1, 2019, said port manager Karim Nouira.

He pointed out that meetings were held with carriers, investors, exporters and business leaders to shed light on this line and the benefits it can offer.

The effort is focused on marketing this line in order to attract various activities of transport, transit, transport, loading of containers to the port of Zarzis, he added, recalling that the handling activities in the southern region are estimated at 9 thousand containers.

The new maritime link is a continuation of the experience of regular service between the Italian ports of Marina di Carrara and Cagliari, on the one hand, and the ports of Sousse, Zarzis and Sfax, which transport more than 200,000 tons of goods.

These direct commercial lines between Italy and the ports of Central and Southern Tunisia serve as a catalyst for these regions and give very important logistical and economic advantages as they allow to generate a very important commercial activity and to reduce stopover times and therefore the cost of transport.
