Tunisian Cargo Wings Express has leased two Boeing 737-300 freighters from Bulgaria-based lessor Cargo Air, as it prepares to launch scheduled and charter cargo operations, according to Air Cargo News.
The aircraft, converted from passenger to freighter (P2F), are 38 and 39 years old and are currently parked while the airline readies for service this year.
Cargo Wings Express will be based at Tunis-Carthage International Airport (TUN) and aims to operate both general and specialized cargo flights, with Africa expected to be the initial focus before expanding to other regions.
The company has reported a workforce of 51–200 employees and last year signed a pilot training partnership with Simaero, covering Boeing 737 Classic type ratings and instructor development.
Tunisia’s cargo market includes established players such as Tunisair Cargo and Express Air Cargo, the latter founded in 2015 with a fleet of three 737-300 freighters.
Cargo Air, the lessor, also operates for express and mail carriers including DHL and UPS, offering ad hoc cargo charters worldwide, including dangerous goods, specialized cargo, and outsized loads.
