The EBRD announced that it has granted a senior loan of up to €70 million to the Tunisian Republic to finance the development of a water transport pipeline from the Sejnene dam (in the governorate of Bizerte) to the city of Béjaoua (in the governorate of Tunis).
The project is part of the Large-Scale Water Transfer Programdeveloped under the “Water 2050” strategy.
Its main objective is to improve the efficiency of water resource management in Tunisia by transferring surplus water collected in dams located in the rainy northern regions of the country to drought-prone regions in central Tunisia.
