The African Development Bank (AfDB) reiterated commitment to support Tunisia and help the country revive its economy and achieve the social balance hoped for.
During his meeting on Friday, in Tunis, with Equipment Minister Mohamed Salman, Mr. Jacob Kolster, AfDB’s Regional Director in charge of North Africa, expressed the bank’s willingness to provide technical assistance to Tunisia in terms of strategic studies and road safety.
The meeting reviewed ways to develop cooperation between AfDB and the Equipment Ministry in the fields of basic infrastructure, road safety, housing and rehabilitation of disadvantaged districts.
The minister called for diversifying the fields of cooperation with the Bank, particularly in public housing, laying the foundations of decent life for underprivileged social classes and funding projects in inland areas.
He also pointed to AfDB’s contribution to the development efforts in Tunisia, stressing the Bank’s initiative, after the Revolution, to finance an additional program to fit out 1,000 km of rural tracks in inland regions, in addition to the initial program involving the rehabilitation of 760 km of those tracks.
