The first batch of 10 American tourists arrived in Banju l Thursday night on a week-long visit to The Gambia aimed at providing American t ourists with first-hand information on tourism in the West African nation.
The programme was organised by the Gambia-based Smiling Coast Tours as part of e fforts to open the Gambian destination to Americans, according to company Chief E xecutive Officer Lamin Sarr.
During the visit, the Americans will organise lectures at the University of the Gambia, hold seminars with the disabled as well as organise a one-day media training and sports jamboree at St. Peters High School in Lamin.
The visitors will organize football and basketball tournaments as well as martia l arts exhibition, in addition to visiting . places of interest in the country.
