Bahrain plans mega project to offer 10,000 jobs

A multi-million dinar project could soon be launched in Bahrain with potential to employ 10,000 job-seekers, a report said.

The ambitious employment scheme was yesterday scrutinised as Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting, according to the report published in our sister newspaper, the Gulf Daily News.

The session discussed a memo submitted by Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan.

A batch of 4,000 university graduates will be hired as part of the employment scheme, estimated to cost BD35 million ($92.78 million).

Two thousand diploma holders and 4,000 high school graduates will also be trained and offered jobs.

The financial and economic affairs committee was assigned to study the project, set to be financed by the Labour Ministry in co-operation with Tamkeen. The same committee was tasked to co-ordinate with authorities concerned to ensure graduates meet the needs of the labour market.
