Botswana’s central bank Monday announced that the country’s currency appreciated against that of its neighbor and major trading partner South Africa in April.
Bank of Botswana said the Pula appreciated against the Rand by 0.1 percent and the US dollar by 0.2 percent while depreciating against the pound by 0.9 percent.
In addition, the Pula appreciated against the Japanese Yen and the Euro by 0.2 percent.
Meanwhile the central bank says on an annual basis – twelve months to April 2014 – the Pula depreciated against the pound by 14.9 percent, Euro 12.4 percent, US dollar by 7.6 percent and the Japanese Yen by 3.2 percent, while appreciating against the Rand by 8.7 percent.
