Congo, Czech company sign mining deal

The Congolese government and the Czech company AGIL have signed a prospection and mining agreement in Brazzaville, sources close to the M inistry of Mining and Geology told PANA here.

The agreement authorises AGIL to carrying out on Congolese soil geological resea rch of heavy metals, primarily gold, in the district of Kelle in the Cuvette-Ouest district.

The agreement was signed by the Congolese Minister for Mining and Geology, Pierr e Oba and the Chief Executive Officer of AGIL, Milan Skorpil.

According to Skorpil, since coming to Congo, his company has already invested ov er 60 million Czech crowns, or about US$3 million.

AGIL Congo, which has its headquarters in Brazzaville, is a subsidiary of AGIL b ased in the Czech Republic.

It is also present in Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Ghana and Ecuador.
