Egypt: Lagos to host Afreximbank seminar on ‘factoring’

Nigeria’s commercial city of Lagos will host a one-day seminar on ‘factoring’, being organised by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), on 13 June, the Bank said in a statement obtained by PANA here Monday.

It said the seminar was aimed at empowering African countries to take full advantage of the many benefits of ‘factoring’ as a trade finance instrument, help to heighten awareness about factoring in Africa and begin the groundwork toward a facilitative legal and regulatory environment across the continent.

“It will also give impetus to Afreximbank’s work on the design and introduction of a model ‘best practice’ factoring law for Africa,” the statement quoted Bank President Jean-Louis Ekra as saying.

The seminar will be attended by legislators and regulators from 15 countries across West and Central Africa, including central bank governors, heads of national stock exchanges and representatives of factoring companies and law firms.
