EU flight ban: Belgium to get DR Congo delisted

 Belgium will provide technical assistance to the DR C ongo to get the African country’s planes off the list of African airlines banned from flying into Europe, PANA learnt here on Tuesday.

The Belgium Secretary of State for Mobility, Etienne Schouppe , said a training programme for Congolese civil aviation workers would be provided during Belgium’ s presidency of the European Union which begins in early July.

The training programme will ensure enhanced aviation safety in DRC, Schouppe sai d in a press statement Monday, adding that executives of the Belgian and Congole s e Aviation sectors had met in Kinshasa to work out the programme.

DR Congo is the one of the many African countries whose planes had been barred f rom flying into Europe.

The Belgian airline, SN Brussels, currently provides daily flights from Brussels to Kinshasa and vice versa.
