An international workshop on human resources capacity bu ilding aimed at achieving the Millennium Development Goals in Africa will begin o n Monday in Cotonou, the capital of Benin.
The eight-day workshop will bring together representatives of several African co untries.
It is meant to improve the States’ skills in terms of human resources management , particularly in the selection, recruitment, motivation and development of thei r workers.
Organised by the Human Resource Managers’ Network in the public sector in Africa (APS-HRMnet), the workshop will discuss, among other things, ethics, transparen c y, accountability, professionalism and integrity in public service.
It will also deal with ways of implementing an African Charter of public service and strategies for attracting and keeping the best staff in the public service.
