French residents in Tunisia take part in first round of French presidential elections

French residents in Tunisia participated in the first round of the French presidential elections.

About 13 polling stations were opened, from 8am to 7pm, in Bizerte, La Marsa, Nabeul, Tunis, Djerba, Sousse and Sfax, according to the French Embassy in Tunis.

A polling station has been reserved at the French Consulate General in Tunis for French residents in Libya.

The polling stations of Sousse and Lycée Pierre Mendès France in Tunis have recorded a high turnout throughout the day, the same source added.

12 candidates are participating in the presidential race (4 women and 8 men), including the outgoing president Emmanuel Macron.

The first round of the presidential elections takes place on Sunday, April 10. A second round is scheduled for Sunday, April 24.
