The financial turnover of Gabon Telecoms, a subsidiar y of Morocco Telecoms, went down in the first half of 2010 with earnings totalli n g 32.7 billion CFA francs (US$ 66.4 million) against the 37.8 billion FCFA (76.8
million) realized in 2009, the management announced Tuesday here in a press rele a se.
However, the number of mobile subscribers during the period rose to 577,000 from the 533,000 in the first half of 2009.
The number of fixed telephone subscribers remained unchanged at 36,000 for both years.
For the Internet, the number of subscribers increased from 19,000 in the first h alf of 2009 to 21,000 in the first half of 2010.
Morocco Telecoms owns 51 per cent in Gabon Telecoms while the Gabonese governmen t owns 49 per cent.
