GIZ Tunisia renews support for industrialisation, innovation and digitisation programmes

Some 384 people have received training in the field of digital transformation, while 53 industrial enterprises were accompanied in implementing programmes to transition to smart industry, as part of the Tunisian-German cooperation programme.

This programme, in the field of digital transformation, is being implemented by the Ministry of Industry since 2018.

The first phase of the programme enabled the creation of five centres of expertise in the field of smart industry, in addition to initiating the preparation of the national strategy for artificial intelligence.

The results of the programme were presented during a meeting on Monday, between Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy Neila Nouira Gonji and Programme Director of Digital Transformation at the German Agency for International Cooperation Norman Schraepel.

The first phase of the programme relates to smart industry and the digitisation of services provided by the ministry and its structures, for the benefit of industrial enterprises, in addition to artificial intelligence, the Ministry said in a statement.

The Minister commended the efforts of the German Agency in supporting programmes aimed at backing industry digital transformation, boosting competitiveness of the industrial sector and helping it keep pace with international transformations, especially the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

She highlighted the importance of digitisation of the ministry’s activities and services directed mainly to the industrial sector, with the aim of responding quickly to the demands of industrialists and investors. This will also help keep pace with globalisation and technological and industrial development at the international level, she added.

The meeting also addressed the prospects for cooperation and partnership between the two sides, especially in the field of technology transfer and pushing industrial enterprises to engage in the smart industry, according to the same source.
