Industrial upgrading; 5 projects approved for TND 112.6 million

The Consultative Committee of the Industrial Upgrading Programme, on Friday, approved 5 industrial upgrading files for companies operating mainly in the paper, packaging, cable and automotive components sectors, with a total investment estimated at TND 112.6 million and subsidies of TND 15.98 million.

These files were reviewed at a working session chaired by the Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, and attended by representatives of the Ministries of Economy and Planning, Social Affairs, Environment and the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA), as well as the financial and banking sectors, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Industry.

The approved investments will enable the recycling of waste and the acquisition of new energy-saving technologies. The aim is also to increase the competitiveness of Tunisian products and open up new export markets.

These investments, most of which are destined for export, are expected to generate a turnover of TND 3,000 million,” the same source said.

The selection committee of the industrial upgrading programme (PMN) for enterprises, on April 5, approved 40 files with a total value of TND 64 million and subsidies of TND 8.9 million.

On the same day, the committee approved 64 priority technological investment projects worth TND 5.76 million and TND 1.96 million in subsidies.

The Ministry of Industry also announced the recent launch of the upgrading programme aimed at reducing carbon and gas emissions and preserving the environment.
