Gambian President Yahya Jammeh on Sunday cancelled his t rip to the Gulf State of Qatar after his presidential jet developed some technic a l fault, according to the state broadcaster, Gambia Radio and Television Service s (GRTS).
This is the second time in less than a month that the Gambian leader had to canc el his overseas trip owing to flight problems.
A couple of weeks ago, Jammeh had to abruptly cancel his trip to Paris, France, for the UNESCO general conference.
Many observers said, however, that there was more to the story than the flight p roblems, alleging that Jammeh was bothered by security concerns.
To support their claims, they cited the recent wave of dismissals of top militar y officers in the tiny West African country.
