The Libyan maritime company, General National Maritime Transport (GNMTC), here on Wednesday signed a contract with the ship builder, STX Europe, for the construction of the biggest and most modern cruise boat in the Arab world.
The design of the over 333-metre long and 38-metre wide boat, with a weight of 139,000 tonnes, is largely inspired from that of the MSC Splendida and the MSC Fantasia, two big cruise boats of STX.
However, the one ordered by GNMTC is bigger in size, with 18 stories and in capacity because it will be able to accommodate nearly 4,000 passengers.
The ship will be built in the ship-yards of Saint-Nazaire, France, and delivered in December 2012.
