Petrofac will continue investment in Tunisia

”Petrofac plans to expand its activities in Tunisia and will start new works on gas exploration in the island of Kerkennah,” said the company’s Executive Director Aymen Al-Asfari.

“We plan for this purpose, to develop our facilities to increase the volume of production,” he added, after a meeting, Friday in Tunis, with Interim Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali.

He expressed the company’s commitment to stay in Tunisia and explore investment opportunities in other regions.

Located on the island of Kerkennah for seven years now, Petrofac, an international provider of integrated facilities services to the oil, gas and energy production and processing industries, produces 30 million m3 of gas.

In May 2011, the company suspended operations because of protests by fishermen in the region to resume after a short period and pledge to raise a budget of 1.5 million dinars per year to support development and employment in the region.
