Tanzania: EAC aviation sector addresses safety, security challenges

The third East African Community (EAC) Aviation Symposium, aiming at providing an updated picture of the new regulatory framework to be implemented for the aviation industry at large, will be held 9 May 2014 in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, the Community secretariat said Wednesday.

Aviation sector regulators, air operators and service providers, trainee inspectors and security, air transport policy makers and academia will be among participants drawn from the five member states of the regional bloc – Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi..

The EAC Civil Aviation Safety and Security Oversight Agency (CASSOA) will host the one-day gathering in partnership with civil aviation authorities of the partner states under the theme: ‘Addressing Today’s Challenges: Aviation Safety and Security through Regional Integration, Regulatory Compliance and Stakeholder Participation’.

Organisers of the interactive symposium expect it will provide valuable views from civil aviation stakeholders and aid in the implementation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), as provided for in the Chicago Convention and its 19 Annexes.
