Towards developing legislation related to investment in tourism

The need to develop legislation and simplify procedures related to investment in the tourism sector, are the recommendations of a joint meeting of Ministers of Economy and Planning, Samir Saied and Tourism and Handicrafts Mohamed Moez Belhassen.

During a working session devoted, Tuesday, to the review of the situation of the tourism sector and the necessary support for structural reforms envisaged under the economic recovery programme, Saied and Belhassen stressed the importance of the sector, the main engine of growth and economic activity, in addition to its social role in creating direct and indirect jobs.

The two parties have stressed the need to develop marketing and communication programs based on new mechanisms responding to developments on a global scale, including digitalization, said a statement from the Ministry of Economy.

They stressed the importance of updated studies and the availability of accurate data to help identify effective visions and practical proposals to develop the sector and further improve its performance and competitiveness.

The two sides also discussed the importance of supporting the handicrafts sector given its role in terms of job creation and regional development. The two ministers expressed their satisfaction with the gradual recovery of the sector after the crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
