Aid to hospital structures to fight against coronavirus

The Tunisian Union of Social Solidarity (UTSS) offered Monday a set of medical equipment and protection against the coronavirus as a contribution from Tunisian expatriates.

This aid aims to strengthen the national effort in the fight against the coronavirus for the benefit of a set of hospital structures in the regions and for the social welfare centres.

This includes medical beds, oxygen concentrators, wheelchairs in local hospitals in the delegations of Tabarka, Ain Drahem, Mater, Beni Khalled, Thala, Majel Bel abbes, Sakiet Sidi Youssef and Djerba and the Rabta hospital in Tunis.

The aid worth more than 1.8 million dinars, was offered in the presence of Minister of Social Affairs Malek Zahi, by 23 associations active abroad, according to a statement of the Ministry made public.

Besides, aid worth 390 thousand dinars was offered for the social welfare centres, namely medical beds, wheelchairs.

The Minister of Social Affairs has also recommended the imperative of distributing aid to needy families in anticipation of the cold wave.

The overall value of the UTSS programme concerning the aid to be provided during the winter season as part of the national programme to combat bad weather for the season 2021/2022 is about 860 thousand dinars. This includes 30 thousand wool blankets, 300 tonnes of foodstuffs, 30 thousand pairs of shoes.
