Tunis inflation rate down 0.2 percentage points in September

Inflation fell slightly to 5.8% in September 2013, against 6% in August 2013 and 6.2% in July 2013, revealed the latest statistics released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

This 0.2%-point decline is due to the deceleration of the growth rate of inflation (0.5% between September and August 2013, against 0.7% during the same period of 2012).

According to the same source, this rate still considered high by experts, is due to the rising prices of the group “food and drink” (7.7%) with higher prices of meat (8.6% ), edible oils (20.5%), vegetables and dried fruit (+10.1%), derivatives of milk and eggs (5.3%), beverages (5.4%) and alcoholic beverages (14.2%).
