Tunisia: ‘’Syphax Airlines’’ initiates IPO procedures

“Syphax Airlines” has began IPO procedures, CEO of the company Mohamed Frikha, announced at a press conference held Thursday in Sfax.

He said the first official flight to Paris was operated last Friday, after having overcome barriers and obstacles that marked its first service and received “all guarantees from the regulator.”

Mr. Frikha said the “Syphax” company will operate flights gradually and will serve other destinations such as Libya, Morocco and Turkey, noting that the number of travelers through the lines of the company which provides 5% of all domestic services, will be about 150,000 over the next six months.

In response to questions from journalists focused primarily on the settlement of disputes between Tunisair and Syphax Airlines and strategies in place to better publicize this company, the CEO of Syphax Airlines said this project will help provide impetus to the tourism sector in Tunisia and rehabilitate investment.

According to Mohamed Frikha, this project falls within the framework of “complementarity rather than competition through appropriate methods to ensure the success of the company.”
