Tunisia: “Petroskandia” awarded permit to operate “Teboursouk” block

Tunisia has awarded Sweden’s “Petroskandia” a permit to operate the northwestern block “Teboursouk,” under an agreement signed Tuesday at the seat of the Ministry of Industry.

Petroskandia AB, Stockholm, has been awarded operatorship and a 50% interest in the 4,956 sq km Teboursouk block in Tunisia.

The initial 5-year term may be extended to 8 years. Petroskandia committed to shoot 250 line-km of 2D seismic and drill one exploratory well within 5 years. Tunisia’s state ETAP owns the other 50% interest.

The agreement was inked by Minister of Industry Mehdi Jomaa, the Executive Chairman of “Petroskandia,” CEO of ETAP Mohamed El Akrout and Secretary of State for Energy and Mines Nidhal Ourfelli.

“Petroskandia” will explore oil over an area of 4956 km2 in the governorates of Bizerte, Beja and Jendouba for 5 years to move later to oil extraction phase in case of successful result while guaranteeing the right of the Tunisian government.
