Tunisia: 1.2 million m3 of commercial gas transferred from Nawara to STEG

The final processing unit of the Nawara project (Gabes) was able to transfer 1.2 million cubic meters of commercial gas within the last 24 hours to the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG), the main customer of the Nawara field, the Ministry of Energy announced on Wednesday.

“The supply of gas to STEG has been carried out by Tunisian experts, in these difficult conditions Tunisia and everyone else is experiencing,” the ministry said in a statement.

The final processing unit in Ghannouche (Gabes) has also started, through Austrian company OMV, a partner of the Tunisian Company of Petroleum Activities (ETAP) at the Nawara field, to transfer gas/condensate for industrial use.

According to the same press release, 900 tons of butane and 1050 tons of propane will also be forwarded from this field to ETAP and the «Société Tunisienne des Industries de Raffinage» (STIR) until the end of April 2020.

The Nawara field in southern Tunisia contains several gas wells and a primary processing unit.

Their capacity could reach, according to ETAP, 2.7 million cubic meters of gas per day, within a few months, and 7 thousand barrels of condensate.

According to the project plan, part of it will be transferred to the Tataouine plant for processing and use, but the major part is destined for the final processing plant in Gabes.
