Tunisia: 1,775 guest workers hired mainly in Arab countries (January-August 2012)

From January 1 to 31 August 2012, 1,775 Tunisian guest workers including, 188 primo jobseekers were recruited against 1,272 in the same period of 2011 and 1,146 in 2010, the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation (ATCT) said in a statement.

These recruitments have affected mainly Arab countries with 1,481 enrolled in the fields of education, health, trade and marketing, European countries with 144 hired in the areas of health, education and administration, as well as America and Australia with 77 recruited in the areas of education and administration, said the ATCT.

The Sultanate of Oman is on the top of Arab countries attracting the largest number of guest workers with 468 Tunisian skills mainly in the field of secondary education recruited by the Omani Ministry of Education.

Before taking up their duties, 133 candidates recruited by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, including 113 nurses and health technicians had received additional training sessions in medical English, while 20 officers of civil protection received training in general English.
