Tunisia: 2016 Finance Act provides for cut in budget allocated to subsidy

The budget for subsidy was cut by 19.2%in the 2016 draft budget law, Slim Besbes, former finance minister and vice chairman of the Committee on fight against corruption and control of public finances at the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) told African Manager.

He noted that the budget for subsidy in 2016 will reach 2,612 million Tunisian dinars, posting a decrease compared to 2015.

This reduction is the result of the decline in fuel subsidy by around 580 million dinars, he said.

However, the amounts allocated to subsidy for basic products will climb to 1.6 billion dinars, he added.
