Tunisia: 334 projects and 7,347 jobs reported in February

February 2012 was marked by the declaration of 334 projects in Tunisia representing a total investment of 236.1 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) and 7,347 jobs created, said the newsletter of the Agency for Industry Promotion and Innovation (APII) of February 2012.

Compared to the previous month during which 381 projects, 305.1 MTD of investment and 7,521 jobs were reported, the month of February 2012 saw a 12.3% decline in the number of projects to be realized, a 22.6% decrease in reported investment and a 2.3% fall in jobs to be created.

During the month of February 2012, investment reported in the industrial sector reached 236.1 MTD, against 270.0 MTD in February 2011, i.e. down 12.5%.

The number of reported projects increased from 242 to 334 during the month of February 2012, i.e. up 38%.

These projects will create 7,347 jobs, against 5,534 jobs in February 2011, i.e. an increase of 32.8%.

During the first two months of this year, investment reported in the industrial sector reached 541.3 MTD against 469.1 MTD in the first two months of 2011, thus posting a rise of 15.4%.

The number of reported projects reached 715 during the first two months of 2012 against 512 in the first two months of 2011, i.e. up 39.6%.

These projects will create 14,868 jobs, against 10,734 jobs during the first two months of 2011, i.e. a rise of 38.5%.
