Tunisia: 4 billion dinars of tourism receipts in 2018, up 44%

Tunisia’s tourism receipts (in dinars) exceeded the symbolic mark of 4 billion dinars in 2018.

The latest data from the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) show that international tourist receipts amounted to 4.09 billion dinars at December 31, 2018, up 1.26 billion dinars compared to the year 2017, i.e. + 44.5%.

Nevertheless, this nice rise in revenues is largely due to the currency effect, as the Tunisian dinar depreciated by 22% against the dollar and by 15% against the euro in 2018.

On the other hand, Tunisian tourism recorded good figures in 2018 with nearly 8.3 million foreign visitors having stayed in Tunisia, the best performance in ten years.
