A survey published in January 2026 by the Institute of Health and Occupational Safety examined the reasons behind the emigration of Tunisian nurses.
It found that 84.6% leave the country because of low salaries, while 76.9% seek better living conditions.
The research was conducted by occupational health doctors from Habib Thameur Hospital and the Regional Hospital of Zaghouan, based on a sample of 52 nurses.
The study ran from March 15 to April 15, 2024, and also included paramedical staff who had been abroad for at least six months, according to Jawhara FM.
