Tunisia: 850 skilled workers hired abroad in five months

Eight hundred and fifty Tunisian skilled workers have been recruited abroad during the first five months of 2012, against 394 for the same period of 2011 and 580 in 2010, according to the latest data provided by the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation (ATCT).

Thus, the overall number of aid workers reached 11,652 people. Among the 850 recruited, 148 were first-time job seekers … This recruitment mainly concerns paramedics (247 recruits), trade and marketing (121 recruits), physical education and sports (95 recruits) and higher education (68 recruits).

These hires primarily concerned Saudi Arabia which ranks first with 172 recruits, followed by Qatar (154 hires) and the United Arab Emirates (147 hires), Libya (88 recruits), Kuwait (43 recruits), Canada (55 recruits) and France (51 recruits).

Of the 111 bids received by the ATCT, the Agency has only a limited number of candidates in certain specialties, including higher education of languages and sports, education and psychology, medicine (specialists and consultants), finance and economics.

ATCT called on candidates to improve their command of English (IELTS certificate) mainly in the recognized certifying centers to increase their chances of being recruited abroad and especially in the Gulf.
